I am a master’s candidate at Columbia Journalism. This summer, I covered the ripple effect of social media on a local Chinese community in Brooklyn. I also produced a video documentary on three survivors of sexual assault who came together in a self-defense workshop to celebrate #MeToo as a movement about choice and empowerment. I just did my thesis on creative aging, a hot topic as more and more baby boomers retire.

For me, "where are you from" is a difficult question. Growing up, my family has been shifting between China and Canada, so I identify with transit more than an actual location. But the same multicultural exposure has enabled my fluency in three languages: Canadian French, English, and Mandarin Chinese. As a journalist, I hope to channel my innate interest in people to profiling entrepreneurs and start-ups.
